Professional Services Resource Capacity Planning

The basic building blocks for successful capacity planning/forecasting are categorized between supply and demand

The function of resource capacity planning (CP) is not easy or simple to effectively implement for professional services organizations (PSO). Most TSIA member PSOs have a resource management (RM) function that is responsible for staffing engagements and scheduling resources. However, staffing resources to engagements is only a small part of CP.

This report is a call to action with a goal of inspiring a collective vision and forward-thinking advancements in resource capacity planning and forecasting. In this paper, TSIA Research defines three necessary approaches to optimize resource capacity planning and forecasting.

TSIA is well worth the investment. This is the one place where you can come and get a fusion of ideas that you can then marry up to the goals and objectives of your organization and boil that down into several actionable plans that you can implement over the next 6 months to a year.
