Knowledge is only valuable if used intelligently or effectively; it needs to be timely, relevant and should ultimately improve individual and organisational performance.
At Elekta we realise that we now need to educate our engineers on how to access and use information effectively. Our focus has moved from training all there is to know about a system to what is needed to diagnose and rectify common faults. Our goal is to minimise machine downtime and increase first-time fix rates – to increase service efficiency. Working closely with Lifecycle Engineering we analyse field data related to spares usage, machine downtime, and common faults to form the basis of learning content.
By adopting blended learning strategies we have been able to reduce residential training time and optimise face-to-face opportunities for problem-based practical activities. In addition to realising savings in travel and engineer time, we have been able to tailor a learning experience to the predominant activist learning style of the engineering cadre.
