Over the last few years, PTC Support has gone through the journey of connecting our software using our own Internet of Things (IoT) platform (ThingWorx). ThingWorx allows PTC to receive SaaS-like data for traditional on-premise CAD and PLM products (PTC Creo and PTC Windchill). Though a corporate program, PTC Support worked closely with Product Management and R&D to develop a new tool called the Performance Advisor for PTC Creo and PTC Windchill. The Performance Advisor becomes the cornerstone our new Smart, Connected Support Services. The Performance Advisor is used as a vehicle to proactively deliver support recommendations created by support engineers. These support recommendations provide system admins real-time information on system stability, performance, and feature tracking/usage data. These support recommendations allow systems admins to make proactive decisions that directly impact their businesses end-user uptime and productivity. In addition to the tool, support has also created new proactive informational services around this new data streaming to PTC. These new proactive services will create a new revenue stream for PTC and help drive customers to our new subscription offerings.
