In the 11 years that I have been the researcher for TSIA’s Education Services practice area, I have never had a member say, “I love my learning management system (LMS).” Why is that? Interviews conducted about six months ago, with various TSIA Education Services members, reveal that people expect their LMS to address many functions for which learning management systems were not originally designed. The LMS was designed to do what the name says it does – manage learning. It was not designed to be a customer experience platform. Nor was it designed to be an e-Commerce platform. Nor was it meant to do a number of things that customer training organization now expect a LMS to do. This of course is crazy making for LMS owners.

TSIA is well worth the investment. This is the one place where you can come and get a fusion of ideas that you can then marry up to the goals and objectives of your organization and boil that down into several actionable plans that you can implement over the next 6 months to a year.
