Learning Management Systems: In Search of the Red Feather
Requirements have changed over the past 20 years, but, generally, learning management systems have not.
The level of dissatisfaction that education organizations have with their learning management system (LMS) is high. Interviews conducted with Education Services members reveal that oftentimes the features and functions education organizations are looking for are not served by an LMS alone.
The reality is, to fulfill on all the requirements, two or three different types of systems may be required, yet the unrealistic expectation is that the LMS should do it all, thus resulting in the current level of dissatisfaction.
This report identifies four functional areas and the system that best addresses each area. It discusses:
- Learning management systems
- Learning content management systems
- Learning experience platforms
- E-commerce integration

TSIA is well worth the investment. This is the one place where you can come and get a fusion of ideas that you can then marry up to the goals and objectives of your organization and boil that down into several actionable plans that you can implement over the next 6 months to a year.
