Many professional services organizations (PSOs) are not clear on the best way to structure and staff their organization. They tend to ask questions such as:
- How do others structure their PSOs, and what functions need to be resourced in a mature PS business?
- What are the current benchmarks on headcount distribution across functions and roles within a PS organization?
- What is the workforce structure of PS organizations, particularly in regard to the ratio of billable and non-billable headcount?
TSIA's biennial PS Compensation Study helps us answer these questions. This study captures individual roles for entire PSOs which allows TSIA to take that data and analyze company shape for each particpant. In doing so, we can aggregate the data further to get an idea of the average company shape for PSOs.
This DataView can be used as a tool to compare how your PSO is staffed against the industry.
