Over the past year, TSIA has seen a drastic increase in the amount of inquiries regarding employee engagement. We conducted member interviews and informal surveying to better understand why this topic is garnering additional attention and how the industry is addressing the growing concern over employee engagement. With the rise of Millennials in the workplace, 88% of companies surveyed are feeling pressure to revise their training and engagement programs to better meet the needs of the younger workforce. Millennials are clearly bringing new demands to the workplace, forcing employers to rethink their corporate culture and recognize its effect on employee satisfaction, retention, and attrition. Although holistic culture change ultimately requires top-level executive buy-in, there are ways management can begin making an impact at the department level.
